Private and NHS Eye Tests

A full and thorough test is carried out on all patients, this is not determined by whether you pay for your eye test or not.  Our Optometrist uses the latest eye examination technology to conduct a thorough assesment of your eye health (Click here for more information on our eye examination equipment)


 

Every eye test is designed by the optometrist to assess your visual needs. Within the eye test room the optometrist will go through a number of tests to check vision and determine your prescription, as well as health tests to check for signs of eye disease and some general health problems.

Our eye tests are not dictated by how long they take and our optometrists are able to spend as much time as is required with each person to provide a comprehensive test. If for any reason you are required to have extra tests done, these can be done at a convenient time and you are able to see your optometrist at any time for queries or questions about your eyes.

Children's eye tests

 

All care for children including eye examinations and spectacles where necessary, is free. It is best to have your children's eyes examined as early as possible especially as problems such as a squint need to be treated at an early age. Many vision problems run in families, so if there is a history of astigmatism or squint, or if mum or dad wear glasses to correct their own vision it is important to have your child's eyes examined on a regular basis.

 

Our friendly approach to children always makes them feel welcome in the practice, we understand that their first eye test can be quite daunting but we try and make it as pleasant as possible. We have a large selection of children's frames in all shapes, sizes and colours. We also stock branded frames such as Barbie and Action man as well as trendy teenage frames.

All types of contact lenses are fitted in the practice from daily disposable to rigid gas permeable lenses, with a full aftercare service. Comprehensive Eye Tests


We provide a complete eye test. It includes:

  • Discussing your symptoms and needs including any previous ocular history and medical history.
  • Assessing your vision and then we determine whether any correction is required.
  • External and internal examination of the eye, using the most advanced technology available on the high street.
  • Checking if the eyes are working together by testing the muscles that control eye movements.
  • Eye pressure is checked which is an important tool for detecting diseases such as glaucoma.
  • Peripheral vision is checked using a visual field analyser.

At the end of the test we take time to explain our findings, discuss your requirements and advise when your next test is recommended.

Many people are exempt from eye test charges; these individuals include children under 18 and in full time education as well as individuals claiming certain benefits and individuals that suffer from diabetes and glaucoma.
